Self Help Development works in Africa
1,000s of people contribute every year
to the ongoing work of Self Help development International
in Africa. Whole communities have been given the
skills and knowledge to help themselves. The technologies
assist them in growing produce to feed their families and
sell surpluses, social amenities, training, and skills
to make their future happier.
Some of the modest investments by Self
Help are in Irrigation and water development
projects. They promote improved farming
techniques, in horticulture, enviornmental
protection and restoration, forestry,
the upgrading and construction of hospitals,
health centers and schools and training
independent evaculators. THis has been
so useful it has helped 2 million people in
20 years.
THe Farmers Grow Fund
is used to plant trees, provide seeds,
build ponds and boreholes, develop agricultural
systems, support activities that improve yields,
diversify crop production, and help rural
African communities.
20 million tree seedlings are planted. Self Help has supported
hundreds of irrigated farming systems, has capped springs and provided
boreholes. You can contact fundraising at fundraising@shdi.org
